"On the soliton dynamics, under a slowly varying medium, for generalized KdV equations."
Abstract:We consider the problem of the soliton propagation, in a slowly varying medium, for generalized KdV equations. Our first objective is to establish existence, uniqueness and stability results for a new class of soliton-like solutions, and the description of its dynamics for all time.
New type of solutions include reflected solitary waves. Finally, in some cases we can prove that solutions of this type are not pure, unlike the
standard solitary waves. This last result can be seen as a generalization of the inelastic 2-collision collision for non integrable equations recently studied by Martel and Merle.
